Environmentally friendly auto repair.

Environmental Leaders

Introducing a bold new idea:
An automotive shop that doesn’t just work to reduce its ecological impact, but actually helps improve our environment.

Regardless of where you stand on environmental issues like pipelines and climate change, you and every Albertan can probably agree on one thing: We’re taking pretty poor care of this planet of ours. One drive down Deerfoot Trail in Airdrie, seeing the garbage blowing through its ditches, is enough to reinforce that fact. At My Garage, we’re doing our part to change things for the better. The automotive service industry isn’t exactly known for being clean, but we strive to set a green example; not just for our industry, but for businesses in general. Here are some of the ways that we’re making a difference every day.

It starts with you: Keeping your vehicle green and clean.

Our whole vehicle approach to vehicle maintenance means that our clients drive cleaner cars. Regular and complete maintenance reduces harmful leaks, minimizes your pollution output and ensures you always achieve optimum fuel economy. Even your wearable items like tires and brakes last longer, which reduces waste. Plus because regular maintenance is cheaper in the long term than paying for major repairs, being green even saves you money!

One dollar from every hour of labour billed is donated to the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

Airdrie Green Business

Every year, clients like you help us donate thousands of dollars to Canada’s nonprofit leader in nature conservation. The Nature Conservancy of Canada works to identify and protect ecologically significant land across Canada. To date, the NCC has protected over 15 million hectares of natural land across the country. Besides helping to keep Canada beautiful, this provides valuable protection to the plants and animals that call our country home.

In-Shop Recycling Program

Despite purchasing hundreds of thousands of dollars in parts and materials every year, we generate very little waste. Over 90% of our waste is diverted from landfills! We recycle all of our:

  • Waste fluids like oil and antifreeze.
  • Oil and transmission filters.
  • Plastic fluid bottles and containers.
  • Aerosol cans.
  • Paper and cardboard.
  • Plastic bags.
  • Tires and wheels.
  • Scrap metal.
  • Automotive electronics and batteries.

Environmentally Friendly Parts Washer

We operate a state of the art biomatic parts washer. Instead of using harsh solvents or chemicals, our parts washer contains microbes that actually digest grease and oil, eventually leaving the fluid completely free of hydrocarbons. It’s easy on the user, and easy on the environment – just another small way we can reduce our ecological impact.

Lead-Free Wheel Weights

airdrie tire balancing

Every year, thousands of pounds of wheel weights fall off vehicles or end up in landfills when tires are replaced. Most wheel weights are made of lead, which is hazardous to our health. To combat this, we use the most advanced wheel weights available, plasteel® by Plombco™. These weights are 100% lead free, and completely plastic coated with a hardened steel hook that won’t come loose. This means that not only are they good for our planet, but they’re good for your vehicle, too: The plastic coating ensures that they will never corrode or tarnish the face of your wheels.
